But the Harbaughs' passion for the game actually started here in the Miami Valley on a football field in Eaton, where dad, Jack, roamed the sidelines.
''He was only here for two years, but he made quite an impact on the town.'', Phillip Manley, who played for Eaton in 1964 told us.
Jack Harbaugh's first head coaching job was with Eaton High School from 1964-65, and even today at the Red Mule Inn, his former players still talk about his arrival.
''My sophomore year we were 0-10, my junior year we went 1-9 and then Jack came in and turned the program around.'', Ron Hayes, another one of Harbaugh's former players tells us.
The former Eaton players tell us Jim and John spent a lot of time on the sidelines, when they were just two and three years old, and none of the former Fighting Eagles are shocked by their rise to success.
''Well it doesn't surprise me.? I'd say the sons, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.'', Brad Davis remembers.
Bob and Brad Davis add another father son twist to this story, Bob played for Jack at Eaton and Bob was part of the elder Harbaugh's two decades of success at Western Kentucky.
''Not many father and sons can sit back and enjoy this moment.? It really is quite special and I'm not sure how many people can appreciate that.? We both have been under Harbaugh, influenced by Harbaugh and that's a special thing.''
But ask these guys which Harbaugh they will be rooting for this Sunday, and they all come up undecided.
''Not rooting for either one of them, just thrilled to death that both of them have accomplished what they accomplished.''
Jack Harbaugh was at Eaton for two seasons before eventually moving to Xenia for one year and eventually went on to win a National Championship at Western Kentucky.Harbaugh Family Started Football Career in Eaton
