How to Become Creative with Inspiration from Movies | Self ...

Creativity is the constructive use of imagination in which you give material form to creative ideas. Everything created is first imagined. Being creative does not simply mean having a lot of ideas, but also materializing creative ideas in the real world. This article will teach you how to become creative with inspiration from your favorite movies.

Why You Need to Be Creative

When you stifle your creativity, you suffer consequences: your self-esteem diminishes, you feel perpetually unfulfilled, your life seems boring and small, and you envy other people?s creative successes.

In my coaching practice I see how creativity changes my clients? lives. When they follow their creative ideas, a whole world opens up for them. They discover a new focus, become fully engaged in their lives. They feel energized and they gain a renewed sense of hope and self-confidence. If you also want to experience true joy and renewed energy and if you want to tap into a perennial fountain of youth, develop a creative habit today. How Creative Are You?

Take the following quiz. It will give you good insights into how you treat your creativity and how you use it to improve your life.

1. I don?t know how to use creative imagination for guidance and solutions when I?m stuck with a problem.

2. I don?t have an inner mentor to inspire me when I need a boost of self-confidence.

Choose a film and watch it alone or with a group of friends. Answer the questions at the end of the list in writing and discuss your answers with your friends. Repeat the same with more films of the list, as your time permits:

6. What are you going to do to be more creative? List 3 things and start doing them immediately.

Tips on Developing A Creative Habit

In order to give you real benefits, a creative habit must have these characteristics:

1. It must give you energy.

2. It must hold your interest.

3. It must give you the freedom to make mistakes and see them as learning experiences.

4. It must challenge your thoughts, stretch your imagination, and generate new discoveries and problem-solving ideas.

5. It must increase your self-confidence and self- acceptance.

With these characteristics in mind, go ahead and explore your favorite creative habit. Here are three tips to help you along the way:

1. Interview three people you consider creative in any domain. Ask them about their creative habits and their relationship to their creativity. Ask them about the gifts they received from their creative habits. Ask for advice of how to develop and maintain a creative habit.

2. Read chapter 11, titled ?Practice Creativity?, of Reel Fulfillment: A 12-Step Plan for Transforming Your Life through Movies. It has a list of steps and ideas on how to develop a creative habit. Pick one and follow through.

3. Have a Creativity party with your friends. Show them your favorite movie about creativity and then discuss your thoughts. Ask every person to bring a home-made treat. Now, that?s creative!

WASHINGTON (AP) ? Jayson Werth's Washington Nationals were as good as it got during the regular season, compiling a majors-high 98 wins.

That doesn't count for much come the postseason, where the St. Louis Cardinals excel. So what if manager Tony La Russa retired after last year's World Series title? Who cares that slugger Albert Pujols left via free agency? Just like in 2011, the Cardinals are a wild-card club that finds a different player to lead the way each game, it seems.

Heading into Thursday's Game 4 of their best-of-five NL division series, the Cardinals built a 2-1 lead by outscoring the Nationals 22-7.

"It's going to be tough to score if you don't hit," Werth said after St. Louis starter Chris Carpenter and three relievers shut down Washington 8-0 in Game 3 on Wednesday. "But I believe in this team. I believe in these guys. We've been here all year. Over a 162-game season, we were the best team in baseball. I still feel that way."

The Cardinals like their chances, too.

"It's the biggest game of the year," center fielder Jon Jay said. "We all know how important it is. You can't look ahead."

Kyle Lohse, who beat the Atlanta Braves in last week's one-game, wild-card playoff, gets the start for St. Louis. Ross Detwiler pitches for Washington, which is sticking to its long-stated plan of keeping Stephen Strasburg on the sideline the rest of the way.

"We're not out of this, by a long shot," Nationals manager Davey Johnson said. "Shoot, I've had my back to worse walls than this."

Perhaps. Will be tough for Washington to win and extend the season if it can't get its offense going, though.

The Nationals didn't do much at all Wednesday against Carpenter, who finds that even something as simple as breathing can feel odd on occasion now that he's missing a rib and two neck muscles.

Taking the mound for only the fourth time in 2012 after complicated surgery to cure numbness on his right side, the 37-year-old Carpenter spoiled the return of postseason baseball to Washington by pitching into the sixth inning.

"To go from not being able to compete, and not only compete but help your team, to be able to be in this situation," Carpenter said, "it's pretty cool."

Carpenter allowed seven hits and walked two across his 5 2-3 innings to improve to 10-2 over his career in the postseason. The 10 victories tie the righty for seventh-most, behind Andy Pettitte's record 19.

"If the baseball world doesn't know what an amazing competitor he is by now," Cardinals left fielder Matt Holliday said, "they haven't been paying any attention."

Rookie Pete Kozma delivered a three-run homer, and a trio of relievers finished the shutout for the Cardinals.

With the exception of Ian Desmond ? 3 for 4 on Wednesday, 7 for 12 in the series ? the Nationals' hitters are struggling mightily. They went 0 for 8 with runners in scoring position and left 11 men on base in Game 3.

Rookie phenom Bryce Harper's woes, in particular, stand out: He went 0 for 5, dropping to 1 for 15. He went to the plate with an ash bat and no gloves in the first inning, tried wearing anti-glare tinted contact lenses on a sun-splashed afternoon ? nothing helped.

"Nothing I can do," the 19-year-old Harper said. "I just missed a couple."

All in all, quite a damper on the day for a Nationals Park-record 45,017 red-wearing, towel-twirling fans witnessing the first major league postseason game in the nation's capital in 79 years. They didn't have much to enjoy, in part because of the problems created by Nationals starter Edwin Jackson, who was on the Cardinals' championship team a year ago.

"I didn't feel like I was out of rhythm. I didn't feel like I couldn't throw strikes. I just missed across the plate with a couple of balls and it cost me," Jackson said.

He gave up four consecutive hits in the second, the biggest being Kozma's first-pitch homer into the first row in left off a 94 mph fastball to make it 4-0. Kozma took over as the Cardinals' everyday shortstop in September, replacing injured All-Star Rafael Furcal, and only had 72 at-bats during the regular season.

But he's only the latest in a series of "Who's that?" stars that seem to pop up for his club, such as David Freese last autumn.

The Cardinals won 10 fewer games than the Nationals this season and finished second in the NL Central, nine games behind Cincinnati, sneaking into the postseason as the league's second wild-card under this year's new format.

Doesn't matter.

The Cardinals learned to be resilient with their stretch run in 2011, also getting into the playoffs with the last NL berth.

"We saw how, if you just take it one game at a time, we're not looking at, 'Hey, we have got to win two out of three here in Washington.' We're looking at it: We have to win today," Lohse said. "We've done a good job of that ? winning just about every game we absolutely had to. And I think when you start doing that, you realize you can do that. Your confidence goes up."

Reports from the twelve Federal Reserve Districts indicated that economic activity generally expanded modestly since the last report.
Consumer spending was generally reported to be flat to up slightly since the last report. A number of Districts characterized retail sales as expanding at a modest pace ...

And on real estate:

Residential real estate showed widespread improvement since the last report. All twelve Districts reported that existing home sales strengthened, in some cases substantially. Selling prices were steady or rising. Boston, Atlanta, Minneapolis, Dallas and San Francisco noted declining or tight inventories, which have put upward pressure on prices. Modest price increases were reported in the New York, Richmond, Chicago, and Kansas City Districts. New York and Richmond reported relatively strong demand at the high and low ends of the market, whereas Philadelphia and Kansas City noted relative strength for mid-range homes; Boston indicated a shift in the mix toward lower or medium priced homes. New home construction and sales were more mixed but still mostly improved: increased construction and/or new home sales were reported in the Atlanta, Chicago, St. Louis, Kansas City, Dallas and San Francisco Districts. Multi-family construction, in particular, was described as robust in the Boston, New York, Atlanta, Chicago, and Dallas Districts. Residential rental markets continued to be characterized as strong, even in the New York and Atlanta Districts where rents increased somewhat less strongly than in recent months.
Commercial real estate markets were mixed since the last report. Office markets showed signs of softening in the northeastern Districts--Boston, New York and Philadelphia--with New York remarking on substantial new supply coming on the market in early 2013. In contrast, Atlanta, Minneapolis and San Francisco noted some improvement, while most other Districts reported stable or mixed market conditions. Industrial markets showed some strength in the New York, Philadelphia, Cleveland and Atlanta Districts, while conditions were described as sluggish in Richmond and mixed in St. Louis. Atlanta noted weakness in the market for retail space. Commercial construction activity was also mixed: Atlanta, Minneapolis and Kansas City reported some improvement in non-residential construction activity, while Richmond and Dallas noted that activity was sluggish.

Pundits on all major networks agree? Paul Ryan absolutely destroyed Joe Biden in tonight?s Vice Presidential debate.

The only debate between Vice President Joe Bide and Republican candidate Congressman Paul Ryan, which took place at 9 p.m. in Danville, Kentucky is over and? ?Paul Ryan wiped the floor with Joe Biden, according to all the mainstream media sources.

?It was a total disaster for Biden,? MSNBC?s Chris Matthews screamed. ??What the hell are the doing at the White House? ?Who gave Biden alcohol before the debate? ?This race is over!?

?Paul Ryan won the election tonight,? said former Clinton adviser, James Carville.? ?Joe Biden looked like Admiral Stockdale tonight. ?He barely could form a coherent sentence.?

George Stephanopoulos ?reportedly told views, ?a Vice President hasn?t done this bad since Dan Quayle got beat up by Lloyd Bentsen.?

And in a surprising tweet, Bill Maher reportedly said, ?I am donating one million dollars to Paul Ryan and Mitt Romney. ?My candidates are on too many drugs.?

The debate took place Thursday night, but during the day Joe Biden was looking to score some ?Kentucky bluegrass?? ?I hear it?s really got a kick,? Biden reportedly told some stoners in Lexington.

The debate focused on domestic issues, with particular attention devoted to the economy. ?Paul Ryan repeatedly accused Joe Biden of being a person who wants to take money from the middle-class and run up the debt and deficit.

Not surprisingly, Joe Biden agree. ??Look, we want to raise taxes on everyone. That?s what the patriotic thing to do is. ?Everybody needs to chip in.?

Biden also made a few gaffes, as expected during the debate. ? He said he opposed Obamacare, was pro-life and wanted to make sure ?no woman ever gets a free condom. ?Not in my lifetime!?

In the segment on the ?role of government? Joe Biden told America that he believed that the government should support every American. ??The government can take care of you better than your mother or father. ?That?s a fact!?

Martha Raddatz of ABC was the moderator for the debate. ?She was accused of ?having a bias because she attended Barack Obama?s wedding. ?And she did her best to help Biden out with questions like? ?So, Vice President Biden, you agree that Paul Ryan wants to kill old women and drop bombs on illegal immigrants crossing into America from Mexico??

Raddatz also had tough, leading questions for Ryan: ??So, Mr. Ryan, is it true that you want to mandate that all children carry guns to school??

Even with the help? Ryan obliterated Biden.

Toward the end of the debate, ?Joe Biden surprised American when he turned to Paul Ryan and said, ??You know what? ?You make a lot of sense. ?You?ve got my vote!?

Polls conducted by MSNBC showed that Paul Ryan won the debate with a 99% favorable rating, while ALL the other media in the country had Mitt Romney winning with a 98% favorable rating.

In an unrelated story, President Obama has authorized, by Executive Order, ?triple-voting? in Florida, Ohio and Virginia.?? ?Democrat residents of those states can vote three times,?? White House spokesperson Jay Carney said.
